CTICC Inaugural Mini Wedding Expo Great Success


CTICC Wedding expoOn Saturday the 16th of August 2014 the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) hosted its inaugural Mini Wedding Expo. This was the first time that the centre has hosted its own mini expo, which attracted in excess of 300 people. This event formed part of the centre’s three month promotional wedding campaign, which will culminate in the main prize draw; where over R 35 000 of prizes will be up for grabs.

International visitors to Vietnam on the rise


KQTdenDNAugust alone saw approximately 618,600 international arrivals, up by 9.5 percent compared to the previous month.

The number of tourists from almost all Vietnam’s traditional markets was up in the first eight months of this year. Hong Kong market showed the highest surge with 97.5 percent, followed by Germany, 83.3 percent, and Russia, 27.1 percent.

New tour linking Vietnam, Thailand, Laos under discussion

Exhibition on ASEAN, Vietnam’s culture to start in Hanoi


ExhibitiononASEANEntitled “ASEAN cultural space” the exhibition will take place at the National Library of Vietnam, 31 Trang Thi Street, Hanoi.
 
The documents include photos, paintings, books and newspapers in different languages. The exhibits were selected from the 2.5 million documents stored in the library.

Local construction management firm Lemartec was named to Varco Pruden Buildings’ 2014 Hall of Fame in the transportation category for designing and building the new aircraft hangar at OPF for Miami Executive Aviation.

Fraport Executive Board member Peter Schmitz retires

Schmitz, who joined the Frankfurt Airport company in 2001, initially served until 2009 as Senior Executive Vice President responsible for Ground Services, Fraport’s biggest strategic business unit, with more than 5,000 employees.

Singapore overtakes Bangkok as biggest Asian destination


gtaOne of the largest inbound operators to Singapore, global hospitality and leisure distributor GTA has bucked a downward trend in the destination’s tourism industry in the first half of the year, which has resulted in significant softening in hotel occupancy and average daily rates compared to 2013. With international visitor arrivals falling by 2.8 per cent in the first half of 2014, the softening is being attributed to a combination of weakening arrivals from China, lower demand for corporate travel, and a surplus of supply leading to greater price competition.

Air Astana Profit Up In Second Quarter 2014


Air AstanaAir Astana, Kazakhstan’s principal airline, recorded an operating profit of $26.3 million and International Financial Standards Reporting (IFRS) net profit of $16.5 million for the 2nd quarter 2014, increases of 24% and 7% respectively over 2013. The airline carried 939,000 passengers, a slight increase over 2013, and generated revenues of $230m, 4% less than in 2013. The figures represent a profit rebound after the year’s 1st quarter was adversely affected by the 19% devaluation of the Kazakh Tengue in February. The airline also took delivery of three new Airbus A320 and one new Boeing 767-300ER during the period.
